Quality of Life

Belton, Texas, established in 1850, is a charming and growing community with a historical past and exciting future.

The Bell County Museum in downtown Belton completed a $1 million expansion project, linking the 6,000 s.f. Carnegie Building to the next door Guffy Building, adding 10,000 s.f. of space for new exhibits.

In addition to the Bell County Museum, downtown offers historical walking tours, visits to the Bell County Courthouse, antique shops, coffee and ice cream shops, and unique old-time restaurants featuring Texas BBQ and good home cooking. Market Days is a monthly weekend event that provides the opportunity to visit and highlight downtown businesses.

The Nolan Creek Hike and Bike Trail, a 1.5 mile trail along Nolan Creek , has access to ten pocket parks and the recently renovated Harris Community Center and a Splash Pad. In the near future, this trail will link to other trails in the community.

Belton has received national and state recognition for the annual Fourth of July parade, carnival and rodeo with over 50,000 local and tourist visitors.

Belton also offers plenty of outdoor activities around the Belton and Stillhouse Hollow Reservoir Lakes.
