Belton Economic Development Corporation

The Belton Economic Development Corporation was created in 1990 after the Belton citizens voted in favor to adopt the state's 4A Sales Tax Program, an initiative introduced and supported by the city council.

The BEDC's established mission is to enhance the economy of Belton by assisting primary industry expand or locate into the community, thereby creating new job opportunities.

Since then, each year the BEDC has assisted local industry with their expansion plans, continues to develop the Belton Business Park and has also supported infrastructure projects in the community in order to open additional development opportunities to spur growth. Business Roundtable Meetings featuring special presentations are held quarterly to encourage networking among industry representatives, present topics of common interest and provide opportunities to learn about their challenges and successes. Click Here for information on the next meeting.

Acceptable projects for the BEDC are governed by State Law for 4A Corporations and by policies established by the board of directors and the Belton City Council.

The board of directors consists of five business leaders from the community appointed to two-year terms by the BeltonCity Council. The corporation's annual budget is developed and approved by the board of directors and ratified by the Belton City Council. Current board members include: President Andy Crowson; Vice President Dennis Turk; Secretary/Treasurer Griff Lord; and Chris Moore and Joe Shepperd.

Board meetings are held monthly at the Central Texas Council of Governments (CTCOG) building located on 2180 N. Main Street in Belton, Texas.
